“Were films made during the war?”, people often ask you when you say that you have been researching Dutch film in the Second World War for years. Many films were made in the Netherlands during that time: feature films, documentaries, propaganda films, animated films, advertising films and youth films.

For his research into The Dutch Film Industry during the Second World War, Egbert Barten interviewed the following people:

H.N.J. Beekman, F.P. van den Berg, Joop van Essen, A.C.J. Holla (2x), mw. Hornecker, Frits Kahlenberg, Jan Koelinga (2x), A.W.H. Kommer, R.J. Meijer (3x), E. van Moerkerken, Th.E. van Putten (2x), Gerard Saan, B.P. Wijnberg (2x).

Most of the interviews were conducted by Barten alone. The interview with Koelinga of 15/1/90, however, he made together with Jan Pet and the second interview with Holla (20/7/93) with Mette Peters. The other interview with Koelinga was made by Aad van der Struis (Rotterdam Municipal Archives). Also present at the first interview with Wijnberg (23/1/90) were Jan de Vaal and Henk de Smidt. Several interviews were conducted by telephone.
