Warlovechild

Oorlogsliefdekind is about the concealed children, fathered by Dutch soldiers during the decolonisation war in Indonesia.

During the decolonisation war with Indonesia between 1946-1949, sexual relationships arose between Dutch soldiers and Indonesian girls. Children were born from these relationships, often unintentionally. After the transfer of sovereignty in 1949, the soldiers returned home. An unknown number of Dutch-Indonesian children stayed behind with their mothers in the Republic of Indonesia. For a long time hardly anything was known about the fathers, mothers and children involved. In the oral-history project, representatives of these almost forgotten groups will have their say.
