Unmarried pregnant. In the 60s and 70s it is a big taboo in the Netherlands. Thousands of girls and women therefore keep their pregnancy a secret and give birth to their child in seclusion. Forced by circumstances, they give up their babies. The little ones end up in homes and then go to adoptive parents who have often waited a long time for a baby. Everything solved, one thinks. But it usually turns out not to be that easy. The past continues to haunt us to this day.
In the four-part series Dossier Afgestaan, mothers, children and adoptive parents tell their heartbreaking stories.
